Headed out to the Na Pali Coast this morning looking for a mother and calf for an early morning feeding. We found just what we were looking for and slowly approached and cut engines hoping that they would come our way. They were moving towards us and we were able to get a good look at mom and baby. After awhile of being awed by the two of them we continued on to the Napali. The seas were a little bumpy but the northwest winds that were predicted didn’t really materialize, so we continued and were treated to the magnificence of the Na Pali Coastline. We came across several whales on our return and were treated to a few slow tail submersions (deep dives).

Well the year has started off with a bang! Dolphins, whales, turtles, we even saw a huge manta ray.

The water was calm and we witnessed a mother humpback feeding her newborn calf. It was a pretty rare sighting and we arrived at the right moment. We saw a huge male slamming his tale as he fought for a mate.

Lots and lots of dolphins. On the way back we ran into a huge pod of 100+ dolphins as they leaped and jumped all around us.

One awesome day and a great way to start off the new year.

Well it’s the final day of 2008 and the Napali Coast really delivered today.
We had some very heavy rains last night. This resulted in the most spectacular waterfall show I have ever seen on the Na Pali Coast. I counted 25 waterfalls, all within view at the same time.

We had a great dolphin encounter, whales all over the place, and we watched some surfers take on the huge swells. One of the surfers took a big fall and snapped his board in half. We picked him up and gave him a ride in.

Overrall an awesome way to say goodbye to 2008 and hello to a great 2009.

Kauai Napali Coast Tours

We came across a huge, male humpback whale today. His 3,000 mile journey has finally come to an end here on Kauai. We came upon him just as he began slamming his tail hard against the water. He wants to let all the other whales know that he is in town. It was an awesome sight. The noise of his tail slamming the ocean was deafening. Below the surface this sound is louder and can be heard for many miles. He was letting all the females know that he is powerful and strong. The juvenile males will get the hint and stay away.

The weather is absolutely PERFECT on today’s Napali Coast Tour.

The water was very calm and the rain is slowing down dramatically. We were able to get into the open ceiling cave and the pirates cave. Dolphins were showing off and we even saw some sea turtles.

The whales are beginning to show up in big numbers. We saw some whales breaching in the distance.

Just another perfect day on the Napali Coast in Kauai.

Kauai Napali Coast Tours

Hope everyone had an awesome Christmas!

We definitely had a great time on the Napali Coast today. Straight out of the harbor we ran into a giant pod of Spinner dolphins. They were doing their show for us and we had a great experience with them. As we headed back we ran into a very curious juvenile Humpback whale. This is just some of the footage that I was able to capture.

We came across a huge pod of female whales breaching all over the place.

We were able to get into the open ceiling cave today. First time in three weeks. The stormy weather we have had is slowly moving away. YEAH!

Kauai Activities :: Napali Coast Whale Watching

Well, it looks like the whales are really starting to stake their claim on Kauai. We saw several females right offshore. They were acting very shy and tracking them was tough. We were still able to observe them for about 30 minutes.

Ran into a large pod of dolphins within 20 minutes of launching out of the harbor. Lots of mothers and babies.

We even saw flying fish jumping all around us. (Yes, there are fish that can fly)

We headed on down the Na Pali and were able to get into the Open Ceiling Cave. It has been awhile since the seas were calm enough for us to get into this cave, and we felt luck to do this in the middle of December of all times!

Yet another FANTASTIC day on the Na Pali.

Awesome Day!

First we ran into a HUGE pod of Spinner dolphins. There were at least a hundred of them. They were jumping and spinning all around us. Lots of mothers with babies. The babies were showing off as they jumped out of the water. We hung out with them for awhile and then went on to the whales.

We came across a lone, male Humpback whale right off of Majors Bay. We counted seven breaches in a row!

Seas were not bad as we left out of Kikiaola Harbor. We could see some dark clouds building but we got lucky and were able to stay dry during our entire Na Pali ride (on the way up that is…).

We went up to Tunnels Beach on the North shore and passengers were able slip into the nice, calm bay. We saw several really large green sea turtles as they swam by.

The waves were sizable and we were able to watch some pretty wild surfers as they took on the swells.

On the way back we spotted a small pod of dolphins and stopped to watch them as they swam around the boat.

Returning to the harbor, we had a wet and wild ride. The storm clouds were upon us! We bravely battled Mother Nature. We got back to the Harbor but were thoroughly soaked. Man was it FUN!
