Kauai Activities :: Dolphins
Today was an amazing day of dolphin encounters. It’s November so you don’t always know how the water conditions will be on Na Pali Coast. But today was just fine, and we’ve already gotten so much feedback from the passengers who went that day about how awesome the tour was. Luckily, our photographer Bill was able to capture this eventful day with his magical eye, enjoy the photos!

These incredible shots were taken by Danney (crew man) while sitting on the bow of the raft. We had excellent conditions, even though it’s already well into October.

WOW! What a day. There was so much life out there today. We ran across a pod of Bottlenose dolphins as soon as we left the harbor. These guys were just waking up and stayed with us for a little while. Next we ran into a large pod of Spinner dolphins. They put on a great show, I even managed to get a shot of one as he floated in midair. The water was perfect and the weather could not have been better.
Wow, is summer here?
Beautiful day on the Na Pali. We got all the way to Kalalau Valley when we ran into a huge pod of spinner dolphins. There was at least 200+ in the pod. We headed off shore to look for a trio of whales that have been hanging out together. This whale pod is not shy and always swim over to say hi and do a little people watching.
We ran into them at Mana Crack about 1 mile offshore. They were moving swiftly towards a large female. We tracked them for about 20 minutes. And soon our time was up and we headed back to the harbor.
Scored a fantastic whale show as three males battled over a female. We followed them and got treated to numerous spy hops and males battling over the females. We had some INSANE breaches right in front of the boat.
On the way back we ran into a pod of Dolphins and they were leaping all around us!
Headed out to the Na Pali Coast this morning looking for a mother and calf for an early morning feeding. We found just what we were looking for and slowly approached and cut engines hoping that they would come our way. They were moving towards us and we were able to get a good look at mom and baby. After awhile of being awed by the two of them we continued on to the Napali. The seas were a little bumpy but the northwest winds that were predicted didn’t really materialize, so we continued and were treated to the magnificence of the Na Pali Coastline. We came across several whales on our return and were treated to a few slow tail submersions (deep dives).

Na Pali was going off today! We started out with an absolutely beautiful sunrise.
As we headed out to sea we were met by a massive pod of spinner dolphins. They were jumping and spinning all over the place.
Then the whales started showing up. We saw several pods. We managed to get pretty close and even scored some underwater shots as they swam under the boat.
The day was perfect and the whales and dolphins definitely made our day.
