KAUAI BOAT TOURS
“HAWAII’S 6TH WONDER”:
The rugged Nā Pali Coast is one of the most rapidly eroding shorelines in the world. This erosion has created a spectacular landscape of deep valleys, hidden beaches, and steep pinnacles. Sheer cliffs tower as high as 4,000 feet in the air. The beauty of this natural backdrop has given the Nā Pali Coast the title of “Hawaii’s Sixth Wonder.”
KAUAI BOAT TOURS | GETTING TO NĀ PALI COAST:
If you’re thinking about a scenic drive along the Nā Pali Coast, think again, there are no roads along the Nā Pali Coast. The area is accessible only by boat, helicopter, or by hiking the 11-mile Kalalau Trail. The trail is treacherous, to say the least. There is an area nicknamed “Crawler’s Ledge” because one must literally crawl along the cliff line since the path has eroded away. Still, hikers are rewarded for their journey, because at the end of the Kalalalu Trail is Kalalau Beach, a beautiful stretch of sandy beach with caves, waterfalls, and gorgeous views for campers to enjoy, and replenish their strength before making the hike back to Ke’e Beach. Camping permits are $15/night for Hawaii residents, and $20/night for non-residents. Contact the State of Hawaii – Dept. of Land and Natural Resources for permit information. [Click here for permits]
ZODIAC® RAFT | KAUAI BOAT TOURS:
In the 1970’s, boat captains made Zodiac® inflatable rafts a popular vessel for exploring the isolated Nā Pali Coast. These vessels not only heightened the sense of adventure, but were of small enough size to snorkel, explore sea caves, waterfalls, and shallow inlets. Na Pali Riders continues the tradition of taking passengers to the Nā Pali Coast in Zodiac® rafts, giving you the chance to experience the Nā Pali Coast up close and personal.
If you are considering taking a Zodiac® raft tour to see the Nā Pali Coast, we obviously think that our company, Na Pali Riders is the best choice for quality and safety. Na Pali Riders started operating in 1996 and we are still owned and operated by the same person who started it all. We have upgraded our vessel over the years, and we currently run an awesome, state-of-the-art Zodiac® Hurricane 920. This vessel is 30-feet long, has 2 engines on the back (500 HP total), and padded seating along the sides of the boat. This boat model is the same one used by the U.S. Navy for search and rescue operations. With this boat, we are able to get inside and explore 4 sea caves on the Nā Pali Coast, go through waterfalls, and get very close to the cliffs. It’s truly an adventure tour!
